CAP Freedom of Conscience July 2024

The announcement made on July 11 2024 by UN experts urging the government to take immediate action to stop discrimination and violence, against religious minorities in the country is appreciated by CAP Freedom of Conscience.

The UN Special Rapporteurs on freedom of religion or belief and minority issues have expressed concern about the increasing human rights violations affecting religious minority groups in Pakistan including the Ahmadiyya, Christian, Hindu communities.

CAP Freedom of Consciences President stated that they support this plea from UN experts reflecting the reports and complaints received from partners and victims in Pakistan. It is crucial for the Pakistani government to act swiftly to safeguard the rights of all communities and address this unacceptable situation.

We urges authorities to follow through with the recommendations of the Special Rapporteurs by abolishing laws holding perpetrators accountable for violence and ensuring full freedom of religion or belief, for all citizens.

Experts are calling for a halt, to discrimination and violence targeting minority groups as reported by OHCHR on July 11 2024.
