Geneva, Sep 29 — The United Nations Human Rights Council Friday heard a joint statement by UNITED SIKHS and CAP Freedom of Conscience, a European nonprofit, regarding Sikh turban rights in France.

Both organisations collaborated on this significant endeavour as co-signatories to the oral statement presented by CAP Freedom of Conscience in Geneva, Switzerland.

The incorporation of the France turban issue in the joint statement, representing both UNITED SIKHS and CAP Freedom of Conscience, underscores the imperative nature of addressing this matter on the international stage.

Mejindarpal Kaur, UNITED SIKHS International Legal Director, pledged to persist in the legal battle for the right-to-turban in France.

“This issue holds immense significance for Sikhs worldwide. UNITED SIKHS, in partnership with CAP Freedom of Conscience, remains steadfast in our commitment to tirelessly ensure that every Sikh in France and beyond may freely practice their faith without discrimination. We affirm our dedication to advancing the legal campaign for turban rights in France and, alongside kindred organizations and individuals, we aspire to foster a more inclusive and tolerant society,” she said.

Mejindarpal Kaur urged the international community to join forces in supporting the pursuit of religious freedom and the protection of the Sikh community’s right to wear turbans in France.

ਮਜਿੰਦਰਪਾਲ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਫਰਾਂਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਸਜਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਲਈ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਕਰਨ।
