I would like to draw your kind attention to the sufferings of thousands of families in Balochistan whose loved ones are being kept incommunicado for many years. Since 2006, thousands of Baloch political and social activists have been forcibly disappeared by the Pakistani security establishment. Their fate is unknown. Hundreds were extrajudicially killed and their mutilated bodies were dumped in desolate areas.
Balochistan is facing a humanitarian crisis. The military establishment of Pakistan and its clandestine death squads are kidnappings, torturing, and murdering activists and human rights defenders to counter the Baloch people’s demand to exercise their right to self-determination.
Despite repeated requests from Baloch Human Rights Council and international human rights organizations for intervention, the silence of the international community is incomprehensible. Considering the gravity of the situation, we hope that the council will urge for sending a fact-finding mission to Balochistan to investigate the gross violations of human rights and subsequently, make the state military officials accountable for their crimes against humanity.
Thank You
