CAP Liberté de Conscience urges the German authorities not to deport Mr. Tahir Ahmad from Pulheim, Germany.  Mr. Tahir Ahmad is a citizen of Pakistan and belongs to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. As many international reports have established, the persecution of Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan deteriorating every month. To send Mr. Tahir Ahmad back to Pakistan is to put his life in danger.

The International Human Rights Committee (IHRC) is seriously concerned asanother unlawful deportation from Germany to Pakistan is scheduled to take placetomorrow dated June 22, 2021.German authorities are deporting another asylum seeker belonging to theAhmadiyya faith in breach of National and International laws and conventions. Thename of the individual who is scheduled for deportation is: Mr. Tahir AhmadPulheim, Germany.

It is well established that members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community facepersecution per se in Pakistan and all recent reports indicate that this persecutionis intensifying. Returning a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to acountry where his life and safety are at serious risk would be a clear breach ofGermany’s obligations under international human rights law and the Conventionagainst Torture (CAT). This includes a prohibition on sending anyone to a placewhere they would be at risk of such abuse. The principle of non-refoulementapplies to everyone including persons who are excluded from refugee protection.

We urge that the German authorities to take immediate and swift action andensure the safety of this individual by not deporting him back to Pakistan wherehe will most certainly face grave and life-threatening danger. The Germanauthorities should grant him protection and stop deportation immediately.

DEVELOPMENTS IN PAKISTAN:

Recent even more dangerous development have taken place in Pakistan, a caseentitled State vs Tahir Naqvi has criminalised Ahmadis worshipping in their homes.A recent Mosque has also been attacked a few days ago. Please find enclosedpictures below. Under such circumstances deportations by Germany areimmensely concerning and we request Germany to immediately halt thedeportation of this individual.
