[Minghui.com, February 8, 2024] (Reported by Minghui Swiss Correspondent Station) On January 22, 2024, two non-governmental organizations – the European “CAP Freedom of Conscience” and “Doctors International” The Organization Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) held a briefing on the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Gong and organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

This briefing was held the day before the United Nations Human Rights Council reviewed China’s human rights status based on the “Universal Periodic Review (UPR)” process. The purpose was to inform the reviewers of the current brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party in China. Behavior.

At the briefing, an expert group composed of two non-governmental organizations presented evidence that Falun Gong practitioners are persecuted by the CCP and have their organs harvested from living persons. They called on the review committee delegation to take action to further investigate and condemn the CCP’s crime of organ harvesting from living persons.

Former Vice President of the European Parliament: The CCP’s organ harvesting from living persons has conclusive evidence

“CAP Freedom of Faith Organization” has consultative status with the United Nations. This time they invited “Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting International (DAFOH)” for the first time to hold a joint information conference at the United Nations to provide evidence of the CCP’s forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience from the professional perspective of doctors. .

The two NGOs convened an expert group of ten members from different countries, including human rights lawyers, doctors, professors, and journalists, to present to the censors their findings on forced organ harvesting in China. and human rights advocates.

Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, a member of the expert group from the United Kingdom, served as Vice President of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2014, responsible for democracy and human rights affairs for four terms. as long as.

At the briefing, Mr. Scott described his shock when he first learned about organ harvesting while in China in 2006.

In May 2006, Scott met in Beijing with Cao Dong, a Falun Gong practitioner who had been illegally imprisoned before. Cao Dong said that his best friend disappeared in prison and later saw his naked body in the prison morgue. There were holes in the body and his vital organs had been removed.

Cao Dong was imprisoned for this secret meeting. Scott said that until now, he still cannot find out what the CCP did to Cao Dong. Scott later met more illegally imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners who had escaped from China.

“There are literally hundreds of people describing the same thing,” Scott said in an interview. “You can’t help but believe in such consistent evidence over such a long period of time.”

In 2019, the Independent People’s Tribunal, composed of lawyers and experts, said that there is evidence that the CCP has been forcibly harvesting organs from prisoners of conscience for at least two decades.

Falun Gong practitioners: Every millisecond of the persecution is too long

Another member of the expert group is Ding Lebin, a Falun Gong practitioner currently living in Germany. His father, Ding Yuande, is a tea farmer. He was illegally arrested in 2023 because of his belief in Falun Gong and was illegally sentenced to three years in prison.

Recently, the European Parliament Resolution 2024/2504 (RSP) cited the case of Ding Lebin’s father and called on all member states to take immediate action to condemn the CCP’s abuse of organ transplants and the widespread persecution of Falun Gong.

“Every millisecond (of the persecution) is too long,” Ding Lebin said at the briefing: “Because (the persecution) is incredibly unfair.”

He further detailed that his father was fined 15,000 yuan (approximately 2,000 euros) last month. As of press time, Ding Yuande has been illegally detained in the Rizhao City Detention Center in Shandong Province for more than eight months, and his family is not allowed to visitation.

Between November 28 and December 7, 2023, Ding Lebin’s father was illegally sentenced. This was one of a series of illegal trials against Falun Gong practitioners. Ding Lebin said: “In May 2023, about 70 Falun Gong practitioners in my hometown were arrested. These Falun Gong practitioners who were illegally tried were all victims of this mass arrest.”

At the end of his testimony, Ding Lebin made the following demands to the participating delegations: asking the CCP to stop persecuting Falun Gong and prosecuting relevant personnel; canceling the CCP’s membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council; urging governments of all countries to sanction the persecutors; asking the embassy in China Investigate live organ harvesting and supervise judicial proceedings in Falun Gong cases.

International Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting: The CCP’s actions reflect disturbing ideology

Doctors Torsten Trey and Harold King are representatives of the International Physicians Against Forced Organ Harvesting. They and Thierry Vallee, Chairman of the CAP Freedom of Faith Organization (CAP) Thierry Valle serves as a panellist. Two doctors issued a statement in which they summarized the current situation in China and called on participants to take action to oppose live organ harvesting.

The U.N. review exists “to challenge violations and strengthen human rights and the rule of law,” they said, “not to provide safe haven to those who violate human rights.”

They pointed out that the CCP targets tens of millions of Chinese citizens and Falun Gong practitioners who practice Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and makes huge profits by selling their organs. China has become a major destination for transplant tourism due to short waiting times, with patients often having to wait only a very short time for a suitable organ.

They said they should take a tough stance against the CCP’s atrocities. The two doctors urged participants to take three actions: raise questions about China’s human rights record during the universal periodic review; push for the establishment of a United Nations special rapporteur to investigate the crime of organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party; and establish an international criminal organization specifically to target the Chinese Communist Party’s organ harvesting. court.

A coalition of 110 lawmakers, doctors, academics and civil society groups has called on the United Nations to establish an international criminal tribunal to investigate the crimes of organ harvesting in China.
