Thank you, I’m Christine Mirre, From CAP Liberté de Conscience We have discovered that over one hundred members of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light, a peaceful Muslim minority persecuted as heretics in several Muslim majority countries have been detained for over four months in Turkish immigration centers and are now being progressively released on the bases of a Turkish court decision.

They want to apply for asylum in European countries so that they can live their faith peacefully and in security.

We recommend that several European countries grant them asylum or humanitarian visas.

On the 4th of July last, an appeal cosigned by

the UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief,

the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants,

the UN Special Rapporteur on minority issues and

the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention

was addressed to the Turkish authorities asking them NOT TO DEPORT the Ahmadi asylum-seekers.

Two months later the Turkish authorities answered that they had issued a deportation order:

because “the group caused provocation and disrupted public order at the Turkish – EU border”,

because “the group resisted the law-enforcement officers causing injuries to some of them”,

because “the group crashed through safety fences and attempted to cross into Bulgaria illegally.”

As the members of the group appealed the decision, the deportation order was TEMPORARLY, suspended.

A few days ago, a Turkish court examined the evidence provided by the group, including videos, and ruled that ALL the accusations were unfounded.

ALL THE OFFICIAL ACCUSATIONS AGAINST THE GROUP ARE UNFOUNDED.

European countries where they will apply for asylum can find more information on the website of the OSCE/ ODIHR conference.
