A group of experts on children submitted a contribution on behalf of CAP Liberté de Conscience to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child in response to its public call for contributions on draft general comment No. 27 (2025) on the right of children to access justice and effective remedy. The call for contributions is available on the OHCHR website.
In response to the call for input by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the latest report on “The rights of the child and violations of the human rights of children in armed conflicts” has been presented for the 60th session of the Human Rights Council in September 2025. This report consolidates contributions from Member States, civil society, and subject matter experts following the High Commissioner’s invitation to share evidence and recommendations regarding the status and protection of children in situations of armed conflict. On Friday, 19 September 2025, during the 60th Regular Session of the Human Rights Council, CAP Liberté de Conscience delivered an oral statement on behalf of human rights defenders who are arbitrarily detained in the UAE.
The statement echoed concerns first raised during the September 2024 side event, “Arbitrary Detention in the UAE: Addressing the Crisis of Civil Society Suppression”, hosted by CAP Liberté de Conscience, where the panel highlighted the systematic use of arbitrary detention to silence civil society actors and restrict fundamental freedoms.
