La France a un problème sérieux avec l’Islam radical, mais le projet de loi contre le “séparatisme” annoncé par le président Macron pourrait créer plus de problèmes qu’il ne prétend en résoudre. C’est la conclusion d’un “Livre blanc” co-écrit par les spécialistes des nouveaux mouvements religieux Massimo Introvigne, sociologue italien et directeur général du CESNUR (Centre d’études sur les nouvelles religions) et Bernadette Rigal-Cellard, de l’université de Bordeaux, Frédéric-Jérôme Pansier, professeur de droit en France, et les militants des droits de l’homme Willy Fautré, de Human Rights Without Frontiers, basé à Bruxelles, et Alessandro Amicarelli, avocat spécialisé en droits de l’homme à Londres et président de la Fédération européenne pour la liberté de croyance (FOB).

Ce qui était au départ une réaction spontanée, légitime et populaire, face à une série d’assassinats barbares et qui cimentait l’opinion publique autour de valeurs universelles : le droit à la vie et la liberté d’expression…, risque de devenir une source de divisions, de conflits et la négation d’autres valeurs, tout aussi universelles, que sont le respect de l’autre, le droit à la différence et la tolérance…

We write as an informal group of organizations and individuals who are scholars, religious leaders and human rights advocates. We are from many faiths or acting in a secular capacity, representing a high degree of diversity. While there is very little we agree on theologically, or politically, we all agree on the importance of religious freedom for all faiths and none.
