Item 4: General debate on item 4 – General Debate

Coordination des Associations et des Particuliers pour la Liberté de Conscience

CAP‑LC draws urgent attention to the systematic persecution of ordinary members of the Christian Gospel Mission, or Providence, between 2023 and 2026.

Regardless of the charges against their founder, thousands of believers who are accused of no crime have suffered discrimination, stigma, and violence.

After Netflix released a commercial documentary in 2023, followed by a sequel in 2025, algorithm‑driven harassment escalated into real‑world harm. In the island of Taiwan, 4,500 members faced doxxing, threats, and public shaming. In South Korea, more than 160 sworn statements document exclusion that ignores the presumption of innocence. Economic boycotts destroyed small businesses; educators, caregivers, and professors lost their jobs solely for their faith.

Women endured misogynistic slander, and children were bullied in schools after teachers showed documentary material. Families fractured under pressure, with cases of confinement and domestic abuse. These violations of Articles 7, 12, and 18 of the UDHR demand immediate scrutiny and stronger safeguards against media‑driven discrimination.
