Human Rights Council
59th regular session of the Human Rights Council 16 June 2025 – 9 July 2025
Item 3: ID with the SR on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions – Interactive Dialogue 18 June 2025
Oral statement by Coordination des Associations et des Particuliers pour la Liberté de Conscience
I speak today on behalf of victims of violence committed by the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan and their foreign backers.
Since the outbreak of the conflict, thousands of civilians have been killed or injured with almost 12 million people who have fled their homes. The RSF has launched repeated attacks on displacement camps, forcing civilians to flee again.
Recent attacks in Port Sudan have again confirmed the involvement of the UAE through the provision of arms and directing operations against civilians.
Victims, therefore, call on Member States:
- to take decisive action to halt the UAE’s supply of arms to the RSF
- to impose sanctions against individuals and entities implicated in supporting or enabling RSF operations
- to ensure investigations into these crimes and to pursue justice and ensure accountability for those responsible
- to support peace talks involving the parties to the conflict
Victims of violence committed by the RSF also urge the RSF to:
- take immediate action to cease the ongoing violence against civilians
- respect its obligations under international humanitarian law
