CAP Freedom of Conscience, in collaboration with MENA Rights Group, the Emirates Detainees Advocacy Center (EDAC), and other partners, is organizing a conference on judicial repression in the United Arab Emirates.

Since the “UAE94” trial in 2013, Emirati authorities have regularly used collective trials to criminalize any form of peaceful dissent and human rights defense. UN experts have denounced the lack of fair trial guarantees and the detention of individuals for exercising their fundamental rights.

During this roundtable, leading speakers – including former victims, researchers, and lawyers – will analyze the mechanisms of these trials, the legal stakes, and the situation of detainees.

Speakers:

James Lynch (FairSquare) – Moderation

Thierry Valle (CAP Freedom of Conscience)

Falah Sayed (MENA Rights Group)

Hamad Al-Shamsi (EDAC)

Ahmed Al-Nuaimi (witness from the “UAE94” trial)

Moataz El-Fegiery (Egyptian Human Rights Forum)

Matthew Hedges (Security Researcher)
