As Yemen is defining its future, it is important that human rights, especially, the right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion and belief is front and centre and presented by those committed to those aims, not least individuals from discriminated religious beliefs.

We will hear from our keynote speaker Special Envoy Anna Záborská , with remarks from the duty bearers UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief, Dr. Nazila Ghanea and USCIRF Commissioner, Stephen Schneck.

Followed by the witness testimonies of survivors of persecution in Yemen, from different generations and beliefs.

Objectives:
– Amplify the voices of survivors of persecution for their exercise of freedom of thought, conscience, religion and belief in Yemen;
– Understand the pressing concerns and rights violations faced by Christian Yemenis, Bahais and others by hearing directly from survivors;
– Provide recommendations for states to address the pressing concerns and rights violations;
– Understand the specific violations threatening the right to freedom of conscience of women, perpetrated by both state and societal actors.
